Brazil's Minas Gerais state announced the official start of the 30-year concession contract for the Varginha-Furnas highway.
In May 2023, the EPR Vias do Café consortium, consisting of Brazilian infrastructure firm Equipav and investment fund Perfin, emerged as the only bidder for the contract. The current phase of the project involves implementing essential improvements to the highways, such as road surface enhancements, drainage upgrades, signage improvements, and cleaning of adjacent areas. These measures aim to enhance travel conditions and bolster road safety. EPR Vias do Café is entrusted with maintaining a total of 433 km of highways, spanning 22 municipalities from São Sebastião do Paraíso to Três Corações.
