Belgium's Besix and Denmark's MT Højgaard have commenced construction on the 1.4 km cut-and-cover road tunnel, extending from Svanevænget across the Svanemøllehavn harbour and into Nordhavn.
By extending the current tunnel, the Nordhavn Tunnel will significantly improve access to the urban development areas in both inner and outer Nordhavn, located in Copenhagen. It has been carefully designed to not only provide enhanced and more direct connectivity but also to accommodate future infrastructure developments, including the potential construction of an Eastern Ring Road. Furthermore, the tunnel will play a crucial role in facilitating road transport, enabling smooth access for trucks to the future container terminal and UNICEF's global warehouse.
