Work on Cambodia’s Techo International Airport in full swing with operations expected by mid-2025

The China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. has announced that the construction work of the Techo International Airport is in full swing and expected to commence passenger operations by mid-2025.

The airport development is divided into three phases. Phase I is projected to accommodate 13 million passengers annually, Phase II aims to handle 30 million passengers by 2030, and Phase III is anticipated to support up to 50 million passengers by 2050. Furthermore, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Company Limited has injected USD 1.5 billion into the airport's construction. Spanning an area of 2,600 ha across southern Kandal and Takeo provinces, approximately 20 km from the capital Phnom Penh, the airport project commenced in June 2020. As of now, about 66.1% of the overall progress has been achieved, with a total expenditure of US$961 million. The Techo International Airport, classified as a 4F-class facility, is set to commence operations in the first half of 2025 as part of its first phase.
