Work intensifies on Eastern Metropolitan Corridor

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced the progress of work on the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor (CMDE) project in Paraguay.

The CMDE project has three main components, The urban lot, which will connect to the existing road network and is currently 50% complete, the two rural lots and the construction of a bridge over the Monday River, connecting the towns of Presidente Franco, Ciudad del Este, Los Cedrales, Minga Guazú, and Hernandarias. 

  • Constructora Isacio Vallejos SA (CIVSA) is responsible for Lot 1, which has progressed by 1%. The completed work includes the construction of lined ditches, lime soil, cell molding for sewers, and deep drains;
  • The Mediterranean Consortium, which consists of Constructora Petricevic SA, Miguel Chávez Hausman, and Iniciativas Constructoras, has completed 10.18% of Lot 2. The activities carried out include soil movement, area cleaning and clearing, lime soil placement, and crushing of quarry stones; and
  • The construction of the bridge over the Monday River is the responsibility of the Puente Monday Consortium, made up of Constructora Heisecke SA and Construpar SA, with the JYI Consortium being the supervisor.
