Hollywood commissioners have approved the proposal of Related Group to develop a high-rise condominium and community center on the city-owned beachfront land. The company will rebuild the outdated Hollywood Beach Culture and Community Center and develop a 30-story, 300-unit condo project on municipal land under the proposed 99-year term lease.
The new community center will be two-story and will occupy 20,000 square feet of space. It will have a restaurant on the ground level. In addition, Related will also rebuild a public park, restore a nearby sand dune and connect the development site to the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
The entire project, including public and private portions, is estimated to cost around US$138 million. The construction period will take a bit more than two years.
