Shenzhen Metro Corporation Limited has selected a winner during the international competition for the design of Shenzhen Airport East Integrated Transport Hub. The winning team is a design consortium led by Grimshaw includes Mott MacDonald, China Aviation Planning and Design Institute (AVIC CAPDI), Beijing Urban Construction Design and Development Group (BJUCD) as well as Schlaich Bergemann partner (sbp), Atelier Ten, and Gross Max. The project is sponsored by China National Railway Corporation Limited and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and is undertaken by Shenzhen Metro Corporation Limited as a tenderer.
The hub will act as a new urban gateway and landmark for the Greater Bay Area by organizing transfers between high-speed rail and other public transport modes. It will also provide connections and terminal facilities for passengers traveling to and from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. The proposed design contains a highly economic architectural and engineering solution that uses materials efficiently and maximizes component repeatability, achieving LEED Platinum and Chinese 3 Star rating for the project.
