Comune di Milano has announced the OUTCOMIST team as the winner of the international competition for the urban development PPP project in Porta Romana district, Milan. The proposed design interprets the industrial railway site while reanimating it with contemporary programs centered on sustainability. The "green neighborhood" will include residential and office areas, a central park, as well as an Olympic Village for athletes during the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics.
The winning team consists of the following companies: Diller Scofidio + Renfro, PLP Architecture, Carlo Ratti Associati and Arup. The final version of the project will be submitted by May 2021, including a series of stages to respect the limited timeline for the construction of the Olympic Village, since the estimated delivery date is July 2025.
