Ministry of Transport in Morrocco has awarded the Dakhla port project located in the disputed territory of Western Sahara to a Joint venture of SGTM and Somagec. The project involves the development of a fishing port to import almost 1 million tonnes of seafood per year and a container terminal with enough capacity to handle 2.2 million tonnes of commercial cargo.
The estimated investment value for the project is US$1 billion. Contract signature will be done after technical and financial review.
