National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) in Brazil has selected the winners for the concession of ports located in the Northeast and North region of Brazil.
The three port terminals are: MCP02- Port of Santana in Amapá, SSD09- Port of Salvador in Bahia and MCU01- Port of Mucuripe in Ceará. The winners for these ports are Caramuru, Intermarítima Portos e Logística and Tergran Group. One terminal located in Salvador was disputed, while the other ones had only one interested bidder.
Overall, the three assets have contracted investments of BRL106.6 million (US$20.29 million). The total amount of grants is BRL38.85 million (US$7.39 million), which will be allocated to the port authorities. Intermarítima has offered the highest grant and will spend BRL32 million (US$6.08 million) in the operation of the general cargo terminal in Salvador for the period of 10 years.
