The local government in Cayenne, French Guiana has selected Ibys consortium for the development of BRT network in the city. The consortium consists of Colas Projects, Ribal Travaux Publics (a subsidiary of Colas) and FIDEPPP2 investment fund.
The project includes finance, build and operation of a Bus rapid transit (BRT) network in Cayenne, French Guiana. The network will have two BRT lines with a total length of 10.1km connecting to 21 stations with stations in the Andrée-Rosemon Hospital and the University of French Guiana. The scope of works also involves development of park-and-ride lot, two multimodal interchange hubs, and a maintenance and storage center. The consortium will also redevelop some adjacent public spaces to bolster urban regeneration in Cayenne.
The project is expected to be operational by mid-2023, 42 months after the commencing of the works. The financing will be done through Colas and FIDEPPP2, debt provided by Rivage, an institutional investor, and public funding provided by the local government, France and the European Union.
