Welsh Water in the UK is planning to launch the Competitively Appointed Provider (CAP) procurement process to deliver the Cwm Taf Water Supply Project. The facility will provide long-term water supply resilience to Cardiff, Newport, and several smaller towns located within the Merthyr Valley. This project will replace three existing water treatment plants located at Pontsticill, Llwyn-Onn, and Cantref along with the possibility of decommissioning a further two assets located in Carno and Nantybwch at a later stage.
The private partner will provide financing and construction of a Water Treatment Plant, which will be capable of processing an output of 160- 225Ml/day (megaliters/day), together with the construction of a treated water storage tank (150Ml). Safe drinking water will be supplied to over 600,000 people across the DCC South East Wales Conjunctive Use System (SEWCUS) network.
The authority has launched a pre-market engagement to invite interested companies to contact them by mail amanda.edwards@dwrcymru.com until May 24, 2021. The formal Contract Notice for tenders is expected to launch in July 2022.
