The Digital Infrastructure Division of Welsh Government has announced that it has commenced market engagement for a mobile infrastructure infill project.
The project will bring 4G coverage to a number of areas of Wales that currently do not have a reliable and usable 4G mobile phone signal and where there are no current plans by commercial operators to provide a service but where there is demonstrable latent demand for a mobile data service. The areas for intervention will be based on a number of mobile action zones which are currently being identified.
The market engagement exercise will explore a range of possible solutions/strategies prior to embarking on a competitive bid process to appoint contractor/s to deliver the project.
The toatl estimated value of the project is GBP20 million (US$26.4 million). A tender is scheduled to be launched on 22 May 2019.
