Société des grands projets have awarded Webuild, in JV with its French partner NGE (representative), a EUR 1.38 billion (US$ 1.48 billion) contract, to construct Lot 2 of the Western section of Line 15 of the .
The new contract involves designing and building four underground stations, approximately 7 km of tunnels excavated using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), and six functional structures between the Pont de Sèvres and Saint-Denis Pleyel stations. Webuild will lead the joint venture with NGE, Equans France, and TSO. The project will use lower-carbon construction concrete and materials with a low environmental impact, such as bio-based, recycled, and locally sourced options. Energy consumption will be optimized through energy recovery from plants and technical equipment, regenerative braking of trains, and efficient lighting and ventilation systems. Vegetation will play a key role in the stations, promoting biodiversity with 50% native species and green roofing.
The Grand Paris Express foresees constructing approximately 200 km of lines and 68 stations. The entire network will be built almost 90% underground and when finished it will transport more than 3 million people daily. Line 15, spanning 75 km, will be France's longest metro line, encircling Paris with 36 stations across 45 municipalities and four departments in Île-de-France. Additionally, 95% of the new lines will connect to the existing transport network, including Transilien, RER, metro, tramway, and bus services.
