Webuild has announced the opening of a new urban rail line that connects the suburbs with the Perth city center, Western Australia via the international airport.
The 8.5 km long train line is built under the Forrestfield-Airport Link project and it allows commuters to travel between the suburbs and the center in a mere 20 minutes compared with the previous 45 minutes by car. The AUD1.86 billion (US$1.17 billion) project is going to reduce up to 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year by potentially taking 15,000 vehicles off the roads every day. As part of the project, the largest solar panel system to be installed for a state government department in Western Australia.
