The Middlesbrough Development Corporation (MDC) has appointed Wates to work on brownfield site regeneration in Middlesbrough, UK.

This regeneration initiative aims to revitalize an abandoned town center area. The Middlesbrough Development Corporation (MDC), collaborates with property developers iMpeC and Buccleuch Property. This transformative project forms part of the broader Middlesbrough master plan. The first phase will deliver over 230 build-to-rent homes and student accommodation for more than 450 individuals.

The Fairfield by Marriott hotel brand is in discussions to establish a 200-room hotel as part of Middlesbrough's regeneration project. Pending planning and MDC board approval, construction could commence by early summer 2025. The project aims to provide premium accommodations, support Teesside University's growth, and catalyze the revitalization of Middlesbrough's town center, helping to attract and retain talent in the area.
