The Washington, D.C. City Council (USA) has unanimously passed legislation written by Mayor-Elect Muriel Bowser that establishes a legislative framework for public private partnership (P3) in the District of Columbia.

Mayor-Elect Muriel Bowser stated:

"We have unfunded infrastructure needs that total in the billions of dollars. The Public-Private Partnership Act gives us an innovative tool to close that gap and deliver on major projects in an efficient and cost-effective way."

The Public Private Partnership Act of 2014 involves:

• the creation of a new Office of Public-Private Partnerships that reports to the City Administrator
• the establishment of a transparent tender process model

This new law aims to enhance the quality of projects in the District of Columbia, promote private investment, and more effectively protect public interests.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper on June 4th vetoed Senate Bill 14-197 and signed an Executive Order that will improve transparency, accountability and openness relating to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
