Vodafone and Altice have announced the creation of a joint venture FibreCo to deploy fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) to up to 7 million homes over a 6-year period in Germany.
80% of FibreCo's deployment will be centered around large residential associations on Vodafone's existing hybrid fiber network and 20% will focus on neighborhood homes. The expansion includes bringing fiber connections to homes through DOCSIS 3.1 node splitting and high splitting, enabling download speeds in excess of 3Gbps. FibreCo extension included in 10 Gb/s download speed plan. For the construction and maintenance of the Roll-out, FibreCo has contracted with Altice's subsidiary Geodesia.
As part of the deal, Vodafone will both sell the FibreCo network to new customers and serve customers who don't want to migrate to FTTH. Vodafone will act as the anchor tenant.
