Seymour Whyte, VINCI Construction's Australian subsidiary, has been awarded two contracts worth a total of approximately AU$ 340 million (US$ 233 million).
In Sydney, Seymour Whyte is set to upgrade a 3.8 km section of Mamre Road, located west of the city near the upcoming international airport, for Transport for New South Wales. This project will convert the existing two-lane undivided road into a four-lane road featuring a wide central median, which will accommodate two additional lanes in the future, as well as the construction of a noise barrier. Environmental efforts will involve using reclaimed asphalt pavement for about 40% of the materials needed and reusing excavated materials from the site. The project is expected to be completed by 2028.
In Melbourne, Seymour Whyte is tasked with upgrading Clyde Road for Major Road Projects Victoria. This will involve adding one extra lane in each direction, widening the Clyde Road bridge, and improving the existing junctions. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the project will include an assessment of greenhouse gas emissions. Specifically, facilities and equipment will utilize solar or hybrid energy sources, and the project will adopt a Recycled First approach.
