The Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority has awarded VINCI Construction Grands Projects the contract to extend the drinking water production plant supplying Bakheng, located north of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
This EUR 94 million (US$ 101 million) design-build contract includes constructing a new raw water intake from the Mekong River and a new pipeline with a capacity to treat 195,000 cubic meters of water daily. This extension, part of the government's initiative to provide drinking water to the entire population by 2030, will supply 750,000 residents north of the capital by 2028. The project will leverage VINCI Construction Grands Projets' expertise in hydraulic infrastructure and its experience in expanding water access in Cambodia. It follows the completion of the first two phases of the plant's expansion, which currently serves around two million people, delivered in June 2023 and March 2024.
