The Czech Republic's Transport Ministry has inaugurated the new D4 motorway, located some 40 km south-west of Prague that will enhance the connection between the rural region of South Bohemia and the main trade routes to Germany and Austria.

The project showcases the collaboration between VINCI's subsidiaries in the design, construction, and management of mobility infrastructure. Completed by VINCI Construction in under four years, the works included 32 km of new road construction and the refurbishment of 16 km of existing roadway. VINCI Highways, a VINCI Concessions subsidiary, will oversee the motorway's maintenance for the next 24 years, with the route now open to traffic.

Sustainable practices, including the reuse of excavated materials, recycling of asphalt mixtures, and installing solar panels to power the operations center, were incorporated during the construction phase. The motorway features 20 wildlife crossings, and 40 hectares along its route were planted with native species. In the operational phase, advanced systems such as full-length video surveillance will enhance safety and service quality. The concession company, led by VINCI Highways in partnership with VINCI Concessions and Meridiam, is overseeing the 28-year project, which involves an investment of approximately EUR 530 million (US$ 552 million).
