The Czech Republic’s Ministry of Transport has awarded VINCI Construction two transport infrastructure construction contracts.

VINCI Construction subsidiaries Eurovia CZ and Stavby mostů have joined with Austrian group PORR to construct a new 12.6-km eastern section of the Prague Ring Road. With a project value of EUR 385 million (US$ 396 million), construction will kick off in early 2025 and is projected to wrap up by 2027. The scope of work includes:

  • Building 19 bridges, ensuring seamless connectivity.
  • Excavating two state-of-the-art tunnels for uninterrupted traffic.
  • Establishing four level crossings and two pedestrian and cyclist bridges to prioritize safety and accessibility.
  • Installing noise barriers to enhance urban living conditions.

In parallel VINCI will modernise the Česká Třebová railway hub, Central Europe’s largest freight station. This project, led by Eurovia CZ, forms part of a comprehensive upgrade to bolster the region’s rail infrastructure. With a total investment of EUR 663 million (US$ 683 million), the consortium’s contribution focuses on refurbishing existing tracks and implementing the European Train Control System (ETCS). Spanning from 2025 to 2032, this long-term project underscores the importance of sustainable logistics. Key features include:

  • Upgraded tracks to accommodate increasing freight demand.
  • Adoption of ETCS for enhanced safety and efficiency.
  • Utilization of rail transport for material movement.
