Ministry of Transport in Vietnam has launched an expressway project pipeline with a draft road network plan for the period 2021 - 2030. The draft also comprises a plan for vision 2050. The mentioned road network enlists 25 important projects according to their priorities as well as plans for the proposed North-South expressway, belt 3-4 in Ho Chi Minh City, and the belt 4-5 in Hano.
The 25 road projects included in the plan are as follows :
- North-South expressway including sections of Bai Vot-Cam Lo; Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan; Quang Ngai - Nha Trang; Can Tho - Ca Mau
- Belt 3 of Ho Chi Minh City
- Belt 4 Hanoi
- Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang - Tran De expressway (Soc Trang)
- An Huu (Tien Giang) – Cao Lanh (Dong Thap)
- Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) – Duc Hoa (Long An)
- My An – Cao Lanh (Dong Thap)
- Cao Lanh - Lo Te - Rach Soi (Kien Giang)
- Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) - Van Phong (Nha Trang)
- Bien Hoa - Vung Tau
- Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai (Tay Ninh)
- HCMC – Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc)
- Dau Giay - Tan Phu (Dong Nai) - Bao Loc (Lam Dong)
- Huu Nghi - Lang Son border gate
- New Market – Bac Can
- Ha Giang - Noi Bai Lao Cai expressway
- Hoa Binh – Moc Chau (Son La)
- Dong Dang (Lang Son) – Tra Linh (Cao Bang)
- Belt 4 of Ho Chi Minh City
- Belt 5 Hanoi
- Bao Loc – Lien Khuong (Lam Dong)
- Vinh – Thanh Thuy (Nghe An)
- Moc Chau - Son La
- Phu Tho - Ben Market (Hoa Binh)
- Ha Tien - Rach Gia (Kien Giang)
The draft involves new additions of 41 routes with 9,000 km of roads in the national highway system. The estimated investment value for the pipeline is US$15 billion.
