USD6 billion Final close for Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III

Brookfield Asset Management has announced that it has held a final close for Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III (BID III) after raising more than USD6 billion of capital.

Brookfield Infrastructure Fund III (BIF III) is a closed-end infrastructure private equity fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management. The fund was launched in 2016 and raised US$14 billion in capital commitments. BIF III invests in a wide range of infrastructure assets, including transportation, utilities, energy, and renewable energy. BIF III has a core-plus investment strategy, which targets assets with stable and predictable cash flows, as well as growth potential. The fund invests in a global portfolio of assets, with a focus on North America, Europe, and Australia. BIF III has a diversified portfolio of infrastructure assets, including:

  • Transportation: airports, toll roads, and railroads;
  • Utilities: electric utilities, gas utilities, and water utilities;
  • Energy: midstream energy assets and renewable energy assets; and
  • Renewable energy: wind energy, solar energy, and hydroelectric energy.

BIF III has generated strong returns for its investors since its launch in 2016. The fund has an annualized net internal rate of return (IRR) of over 15%.
