The Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) of Peru has awarded ACCIONA a US$54 million contract for electricity transmission network that will benefit 1.3 million people in the regions of Cajamarca, Lambayeque and Tumbes in Peru.
The contract consists of two projects, the 220 kV Reque – Nueva Carhuaquero link, substations, lines and associated expansions and the Nueva Tumbes 220/60 kV Substation – 75 MVA and the 60 kV Nueva Tumbes – Tumbes line. ACCIONA will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of transmission network.
The Reque – Nueva Carhuaquero link involves the expansion of transmission capacity between the towns of Chiclayo and Cajamarca. It includes the addition of 300 MVA to the existing 150 MVA, through a new link that will benefit 1.1 millions people whereas the Nueva Tumbes will prevent overloading in the old Zorritos substation. It will benefit 246,000 people.
The term of each concession will be 30 years from the start of commercial operation, which is scheduled for February 2026 and April 2025, respectively.
