USD515.47 million Container Terminal PPP project secures approval in India

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has announced the approval of the Container Terminal project at Tuna-Tekra, Deendayal Port located in the Gulf of Kutch in the State of Gujarat, India. The INR42.43 billion (US$515.47 million) project will be developed on a Build, Operate & Transfer (BOT) basis under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode. 

The project involves handling three vessels at a time with allied facilities having a capacity of 2.19 million TEUs. The project will cater to 14 m draught vessels of 6000 TEUs and accordingly, a common Access Channel will be dredged & maintained by the Concessioning Authority at 15.50 m to navigate container vessels of 14 m draught all round the clock. 

The Concessionaire shall be responsible for the design, engineering, financing, procurement, implementation commissioning, operation, management and maintenance of the Project for a period of 30 years.

The container terminal will increase the business potential of Kandla, boost the economy and generate employment.
