Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System (SCERS) has approved a US$50 million commitment to the KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors II fund.
SCERS is making its initial venture into infrastructure investment by partnering with KKR. While SCERS had previously engaged with KKR in a real estate transaction, this marks the pension fund's first foray into infrastructure. KKR aims to raise US$6 billion for the fund, as stated by SCERS. The inaugural fund in the series secured US$3.9 billion in January 2021. The pension fund specifies a target net internal rate of return ranging between 13% and 15% for the fund.
