The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has appointed Gamuda Bhd for the design and construction of the West Coast Station and Tunnels (Contract CR209) project.
This initiative is a segment of Singapore's 15-km Cross Island Line Phase 2 (CRL2) Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, marking the country's eighth MRT line, featuring six stations. The project entails constructing an underground station and two tunnels, spanning around 1.9 km. Tunneling operations will involve two slurry tunnel boring machines, and the station excavation will necessitate rock removal. Notably, this represents Gamuda's second railway endeavor in Singapore, following the Defu station and tunnels, and its third infrastructure project after the Gali Batu multi-story bus depot.
The project is set to commence in Q1 of 2024, with an anticipated completion date in 2032.
