City of Inglewood in the USA has received a grant of US$ 95.2 million from California State Transportation Agency for the Inglewood Transit Connector project. The project includes the development of a 1.8 miles long elevated monorail system with 5 stations in Inglewood, Los Angeles County.
The project is due to be delivered on a Public-Private partnership mode.
The USD 1 billion line will provide residents and visitors with a transit connection to-and-from the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Line directly to the City’s major activity centers including Downtown Inglewood, The Forum, the Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park (LA Rams and LA Chargers), and the proposed Inglewood Basketball and Entertainment Center (Los Angeles Clippers).
Inglewood is seen to become a fast-growing housing and employment center in Los Angeles County. The Inglewood Transit Connector will provide critical transportation during 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
The city officials are planning to launch the preliminary project documents in July 2020.
The California State Transportation Agency grant to the project is a part of USD 500 million grant scheme to support transit and intercity rail. The grants were delivered to 17 recipients for transformative transit and rail projects.
