The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) has awarded Skanska, a NOK 11.4 billion (US$1,073 million) contract for the design and construction of the E10/rv. 85 road project in northern Norway.
The contract pertains to the E10/rv. 85 Tjeldsund - Gullesfjordbotn - Langvassbukt, which forms a crucial transportation link connecting Lofoten, Vesterålen, Harstad/Narvik Airport, and the E6. The project encompasses the construction and operation of approximately 82 km of new road, featuring 7 new tunnels and 22 bridges. Aside from enhancing road safety, this initiative will also reduce travel distances and shorten travel times.
Preparatory work has already commenced, and the construction phase of the project is projected to span a duration of approximately 5.5 years. Skanska has further secured a contract for operations and maintenance services of the completed road for a term of 15 years worth NOK 1.0 billion (US$94 million).
