Trapeze Group-ST Engineering consortium has secured contracts worth over USD175 million from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to upgrade technology in Singapore’s public bus fleet including fleet management system, fare collection, and power and communications systems.
Starting from Q2 of 2024 until 2027, enhancements will be gradually implemented across approximately 5,800 buses. These improvements encompass technological advancements such as a newly integrated cloud-based bus fleet management system linked with electric bus and charging infrastructure. Onboard fare collection equipment will operate via a 5G network, featuring a unified display for both fare collection and fleet management purposes. Additionally, the installation of central junction boxes on buses will enhance power distribution, while a new 5G-enabled bus transmitter system will facilitate faster data exchanges. These enhancements are anticipated to enhance the commuting experience for passengers and set the stage for future innovations in commuter travel.
