Today the Ministry of Infrastructure and the National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) of Brazil is holding the road auction on the São Paulo Stock Exchange (B3), which includes the 437-kilometer lot of BR-364 and BR-365, between Minas Gerais and Goiás states.
The concession will facilitate the connection of routes between the Brazilian Midwest's producing regions and the Southeast's consumer centers and the Port of Santos. The concession will benefit 11 municipalities of the State of Goiás (Aparecida do Rio Doce, Cachoeira Alta, Jataí, Paranaiguara and São Simão) and six municipalities of Minas Gerais (Santa Vitória, Gurinhatã, Ituiutuba, Canópolis, Monte Alegre de Minas and Uberlândia).
According to the auction, the winning company is expected to invest BRL 4.57 billion (USD 1.17 billion) over 30 years, of which BRL 2 billion (USD 480 million) refers to investments in improvements and interventions under the Highway Exploration Program (PER), published by National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT), in addition to the BRL 2.7 billion (USD 678 million) operating costs.
Based on the first 15 years of the concession, the concession foresees the improvement of the level of service offered, greater fluidity and reliability of the highway user.
The concession will also have a favorable impact on the safety of cargo and passenger transportation, reducing accidents, travel time and logistics costs between the Midwest and Southeast Brazil. Among the main projects planned for the highway is the duplication of 44.2 kilometers of highway, the construction of 160 kilometers of the third lane and 19.4 kilometers of marginal roads.
In addition to the implementation of 80 kilometers of shoulders on BR 364/Goiás, 3 new interconnection devices, 9 pedestrian walkways, 7 intersection improvements, 1 underpass, lighting at urban and marginal roads, among other improvements.
The concession also includes seven toll plazas: four in Minas Gerais (Uberlandia, Monte Alegre de Minas, Ituiutaba and Santa Vitória) and three in Goiás (Paranaiguara, Cachoeira Alta and Jataí). The maximum toll fare will be BRL 7.02 (USD 1.68). The contest will win the company that offers the highest discount from this rate.
The Government of Brazil has signed the concession contracts with 3 winning companies for the concession of 12 airports that were divided in three regional blocks - Northeast, Southeast and Midwest. The concessions were awarded in March earlier this year. The Government expects investments of BRL 1.47 billion (USD 360.54 million) in the first five years.
