The Grant County Public Utility District in Washington, USA has signed an agreement with Tri Energy Partnership to establish a public-private partnership (PPP) to support the development and commercialization of the first advanced nuclear reactor in the USA. Located on a site in northern Richland, the Xe-100 nuclear plant will have a production capacity of 320 MW. The project will use four modules, each capable to generate 80 MW of electricity with a smaller footprint compared to traditional reactors.
Tri Energy Partnership consists of X-energy and Energy Northwest and will be responsible for licensing, permitting, construction, operation, and ownership. The estimated investment value for the project is US$ 2.4 billion.
