Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) in the USA has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a broadband network operator to operate, manage, market, maintain and extend the 1,200-mile MassBroadband 123 Network.
The MassTech Network is a state-owned, open-access, carrier-grade, middle-mile telecommunications network that became operational in early 2014. The network aims to provide a high standard of service delivery, and continue to evolve the product and service offerings to meet the needs of the region; providing affordable broadband access to end-users; utilizing the MassTech Network to serve as an engine for economic growth; maintaining broadband support to critical entities such as emergency services, healthcare, education, commerce, municipal fiber networks, and government services; and promoting MassTech Network expansion, including middle mile and last mile builds.
