US Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced the latest round of the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) discretionary grant program, which is making available more than US$ 900 million for American infrastructure investments. The INFRA program is expected to award US$ 906 million to significant projects that support the Administration’s focus on infrastructure improvements as outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
INFRA advances a grant program established in the FAST Act of 2015 to help rebuild America’s aging infrastructure. INFRA utilizes selection criteria that promote projects with national and regional economic vitality goals while leveraging non-federal funding to increase the total investment by the state, local, and private partners.
The Department will make awards under the INFRA program to large and small projects. For a large project, the INFRA grant must be at least US$ 25 million. For a small project, the grant must be at least US$ 5 million. For each fiscal year of INFRA funds, 10 percent of available funds are reserved for small projects.
