The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has published a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development, operation and maintenance of an automated vehicle shuttle service. The service will transport passengers around the Scioto Mile in Downtown Columbus, the state capital. This area includes COSI (Center of Science and Industry, a science museum and research center), Bicentennial Park, National Veterans Memorial and Museum, the Smart Columbus Experience Center, and other recreational attractions.
The agreement will last for one year and may be extended for up to two additional one-year terms. The selected proponent will conduct approximately two months of vehicle testing before commencing ten months of passenger service. The proponent will be responsible for the development of project management documents, ongoing vehicle/fleet operations, and maintenance and service for the vehicles.
Proposals are due by 13 August 2018.
