The Smithsonian Institution, a museum and research complex located in Washington, D.C., has cancelled the tender for the design, construction and operation of a 1,300-space car park at the National Zoological Park. The project had been in tender since February 2017, with a Request for Proposals issued to shortlisted teams in December.

The cancellation is due to conclusions from further review of the project that the car park would not bring the revenue initially projected, as well as the Institution having more pressing capital needs at the Park and lower attendance.
