The Quezon City Local Government has not received any bids to challenge the unsolicited proposal for the Quezon City Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility Project, submitted by a consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Covanta Energy LLC, and Macquarie Capital Limited.
In March 2017, the consortium was granted Original Proponent Status for the project, which involves the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of a biodegradable source-separated waste treatment and residual combustible waste treatment facility capable of processing up to 3,000 metric tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) per day and generating 36 MW.
The government launched a tender for alternative proposals for the project in November 2018. Now that none have been submitted, the project is awaiting the City Mayor’s signature to proceed with the Notice of Award.
