The University of Illinois in Chicago and Mesirow Financial have entered into a public finance and credit tenant lease to fund the university's Outpatient Surgery Center and Specialty Clinics PPP.
Mesirow acted as the senior underwriter for one of the first tax-exempt healthcare public-private partnership financings in the United States.
This new 200,000 square-foot clinical building, located across from the University of Illinois Chicago Hospital, is expected to be completed by Fall 2022. The unique ownership and transaction structure of the project allowed the authorities to exercise control over several aspects of the operation, without bearing the burdens typically associated with the ownership and financing of such a project.
The project's Contracting Authority, Gateway Program Development Corporation (GDC), has updated the initial financial plan for the Hudson River Rail Tunnel P3 Project.
