Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in the UK has issued prior information notice (PIN) for the Heat Networks Financial Services Initiative. The aim of the Initiative is to establish a competitively procured arrangement that will facilitate funding to heat network projects and provide projects with access to an investor base with the experience and appetite to bring projects to fruition. The Initiative aims to support the public sector and other organizations with a route to accessing investment for heat network projects, increasing external investment and helping to create a self-sustaining heat network market.
The authority would expect the Initiative to be utilized by potential providers to provide funding and ancillary services to support the delivery of heat network projects. In addition, the Initiative will be capable of both securing demonstrable value for money investment and funding expertise to heat network projects. The authority is currently in the process of finalizing its procurement strategy and is issuing this PIN to gauge the views of potential providers in respect of the scope of services to be included within this procurement.
The estimated investment for the initiative is GBP 150 million (US$ 196.14 million). The estimated date for publication of contract notice is March 02, 2020.
