The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has conducted a field visit for the Kampala - Jinja Expressway together with its financing partner, the IFC and donors the French Development Agency (AFD), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the EU.
The project entails the construction of a 76 km tolled expressway, connecting Kampala and Jinja to alleviate congestion on the existing route and radial routes from Kampala city. It includes the 18 km Kampala Southern Bypass, forming a complete ring road with the Kampala-Entebbe expressway and Northern Bypass. The project is divided into two phases:
The total investment is estimated at around US$1.1 billion, with technical support from Ingerop, Rendel, and environmental expertise from Earth Systems.
