The University of Alaska Fairbanks has extended the deadline for a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking a private operator for its on-campus utilities and combined heat and power plant (CHP) system. The new deadline is September 30, 2022.

The CHP comprises one 240,000 pounds-per-hour coal-fired boiler and one 17 MW steam turbine generator, with the potential to be converted to natural gas in the future.

The selected bidder will be responsible for the finance, operation and maintenance of the utility systems for a 50-year period.
