Ministry of Infrastructure in Slovenia has two months deadline to keep the Maribor airport running. The current operator SHS Aviation would terminate the operations activities for the airport on July 15, 2020. The authority has to find a new operator for the airport or else the airport would be forced to close its door.
SHS Aviation has cut short its 15 years concession agreement with the authorities despite not delivering the promises made in the contract. SHS Aviation has terminated the contract due to delay in approval in zoning plan adaptation, which would allow the concessionaire to make EUR 660 million (US$ 719.25 million) investment in redevelopment projects and expansion of the airport runway.
