The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) has launched a public-private partnership (PPP) to rationalize the operations of Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT) and to introduce a private sector operator into the Port of Spain (PoS) handling operations in Trinidad and Tobago.
The PPP aims at improving PATT's ability to deliver services and could bring in up to US$200 million in investments from the private sector. The MoWT is now planning to draft an RFP with its partner, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the process which can take months.
The PPP project was first announced in 2020, however, has failed to materialize, despite the start of expression of interest (EOI) process in August 2021, which close in November 23, 2021.
