The Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board has commenced a 1.5-month trial run on the 12.5 km section of The Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The initiative aims to establish an integrated and sustainable public transportation network across six districts of Ha Noi by constructing a 12.5-km dual-track rail metro line from Nhon to Ha Noi railway station. This endeavor involves the development of a new double-track metro rail line within Ha Noi, representing one of four prioritized lines outlined in the broader Ha Noi Urban Transport Master Plan (HUTMP). The trial run, marking the final phase before operational deployment, involves simulated operations without passengers to assess the competency of line personnel.
Anticipated to conclude by April 2024, this trial period will be followed by safety system approval by the project contractor in June 2024, with the elevated section expected to commence operations by July 2024. Commencing construction in 2009 with an initial completion target of 2015, the project encountered multiple delays, leading to an extended completion deadline of 2027. Presently, the project stands at 77% completion, with the elevated section nearing full completion at 99%.
