Three companies have been shortlisted to bid on the public-private-partnership of the new Community Outpatient Centre in Bayers Lake, Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia state. The Outpatient Centre is a part of the CAD 2 billion (US$ 1.5 billion) QEII New Generation project.
The parties shortlisted are Bird Integrated Health Partners, Community Health Partners and EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare.
A request for proposals will be issued to the selected bidders in July 2019.
As part of QEll New Generation, the redevelopment of the Health Sciences Centre, services are being moved out of the aging Victoria, Centennial and Dickson buildings on the VG site. Those buildings will eventually come down. Care and services will be delivered at other hospitals or new health care facilities being built or renovated, including a new Outpatient Centre at the Halifax Infirmary site. The new centre will deliver most services currently offered at the VG site that don’t require an overnight stay in hospital. It will also bring outpatient clinics under one roof.
The new centre is intended to serve people from outside the Halifax area who must travel here, and the growing population of the Clayton Park area. The services of the outpatient centre will include primary care, diagnostic imaging, blood collection, 24 dialysis stations, medical/surgical clinics and an orthopedic assessment clinic.
