Three bidders shortlisted for Scottish hospital

NHS Dumfries and Galloway has shortlisted three bidders for the design, build, finance and maintenance of a new District General Hospital with an estimated cost range of GBP 180-200 million.

Five companies expressed an interest and Balfour Beatty, High Wood Health (Laing O'Rourke), and Skanska were selected following a period of rigorous evaluation. The 3 short-listed companies will be invited to participate in a competitive dialogue, as required by the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations, 2012.

The new District General Hospital for Dumfries and Galloway will be constructed on a site at Garroch Loaning, Dumfries.

This will be delivered under the Scottish Government's Non-Profit Distributing model which is the form of public-private partnership preferred by the Scottish Government.

The duration is 27 years (from the award of the contract).

The project financing to be provided by the Private Sector Partner will be in accordance with the Scottish Government's Initiative. According to the PIN, the contracting authority reserves the right to consider alternative funding, financing and/or contractual arrangements to support the delivery of the Project.
