The City Council of Campos dos Goytacazes in Brazil presented the public lighting project. The project includes the replacement of existing lighting system with LED lighting in the city of Campos. Campos is a municipality located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The works involve the Telemanagement system, with radio remote control; installation of new lighting points according to the growth of the city; prominent lighting in buildings and monuments; and implementation of the Operational Control Center. The aim of the project is to reduce energy consumption by 47%, improve safety, reduce energy costs and introduce technological innovation.
There are 52,000 light points in Campos, and the existing system lacks renovation, has high energy consumption and poor lighting. Total project investments are BRL 238 million (US$ 60.42 million), out of which BRL 110 million (US$ 27.92 million) will be used in first five years and remaining will be consumed in coming 25 years.
The concession period for the project is 30 years.
