Texas Department of Transportation (TxDoT) has awarded a contract for Webber, the subsidiary of Ferrovial, to widen state highway 36 in Brazoria County, Texas.
The US$113.6 million public-private (PPP) project in Brazoria County includes widening a 7.3-mile section of road to two lanes and a middle turn lane and building seven bridges and upgrading storm drains. The extension of the road section will improve its capacity and efficiency, as well as the mobility and safety of the growing population in Brazoria County. Widening of state highway 36 PPP project in Brazoria County is a part of a general improvement being made by TxDoT along corridor SH 36, which serves the port of Freeport on the Texas coast.
Webber plans to start work in the 1Q of 2023 and it will last until the end of 2025. The contract also includes work on 53 projects in Texas, Georgia.
