The Dominican Republic’s Office for Transport Projects (OPRET) has launched 2 tenders related to the extension of Santo Domingo metro line No. 1, or line 1B.
The initial contract encompasses the provision of oversight and management services for the civil construction of Line 1B, while the second contract pertains to the establishment of reinforced concrete pilings. Valued at US$185 million, the project aims to extend Line 1, spanning from the existing Mamá Tingó terminal to Punta de Villa Mella in the northern region of the capital. This 2.3-km stretch entails the creation of two stations and is designed to accommodate six-railcar trains.
