The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has invited bids to develop, manage and operate the Liwa fishing port in North Batinah, Oman.

The developmental process unfolds through multiple phases. It commences with a project study and design, followed by the construction of essential elements such as protective breakwaters and docking facilities for fishing vessels. Moreover, various services and amenities linked to the fisheries sector will also be established.

In addition to expanding fishing ports to accommodate a greater number of ships and increased cargo volume, the ministry has initiated the advancement of various ports, including Khasab, Shinas, Shaleem, Shanna, Masirah, Manji, and Sadah. The port's development is planned to occur in 3 sequential phases.

  • Initially, a committee will be established to oversee the port's transition.
  • The second phase will encompass the development, management, and operations of the port. This will be accompanied by the creation of a commercial and marketing strategy, as well as a new comprehensive layout for the port.
  • In the third stage, negotiations will conclude over a year-long period, culminating in the signing of a long-term agreement. This agreement is designed to facilitate the port's development, management, and operation over an extended 30-year duration.

The last date for submitting offers is December 31, 2023.
